Supernatural convention

Supernatural Sam and Dean screaming
I finally attended my first Supernatural convention on May 3-5 in Whippany, NJ. I had a blast and loved meeting many of the cast members including Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Ty Olsson, Osric Chau, DJ Qualls, Travis Wester, AJ Buckley, James Patrick Stuart, Rick Worthy, Matt Cohen, Rob Benedict, and Richard Speight Jr.

A few of my pics are below :)

Monster Mania 24

Dallas- John Ross
I got to meet some of my favorite horror celebs at Monster Mania this past weekend. Here's some of the people I met and got photos with:

Me and Tyler Mane. He played Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's 'Halloween', Sabertooth in the X-Men movies, Ajax in 'Troy,' etc. Such a sweet guy!....and very, very tall!:

With Lew Temple. He's a great character acot and has been in a million movies/tv shows. He's played Axel in The Walking Dead, Adam Banjo in 'The Devil's Rejects,' Cal in 'Waitress,' etc.. The list goes on and on.... He was very affectionate as you can see, and wanted to take 3 pics... I'm posting 2 of them below lol. He's definitely one of THE nicest and coolest actors I've ever met:

Me & Danai Gurira who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead. She was sooooo bubbly and upbeat... the total opposite of her character on the show. I was lucky enough to have her sign my Walking Dead poster :)

Matt Bomer
75 percent mb4

I was able to see Matt Bomer again outside the Live! With Kelly and Michael studios back in January. My treks to the set of White Collar have always ended in disaster, so seeing him at this studio is pretty much the only place I've ever had luck getting close :-P

Matt was there to promote the return of White Collar season 4, since the show's winter hiatus was ending. Luckily the weather held up fairly well so it wasn't too cold waiting outside. Matt was appearing on the same show as Catherine Zeta-Jones, so she was the first to leave. I never got a glimpse of her since she entered her SUV inside the studio garage and never came out to greet fans. As expected, the ebay autograph sellers ran after her car, but she still wouldn't sign. Oh well. Shortly after she exited, Matt came out and (as always) was so gracious and kind to everyone that was waiting. I took a pic with him, as you can see above.... It's not one of my best since I look a bit troll-like, but Matt was flaw-free as usual.

Here's a few pics of him signing autographs:

Jamie Lee Curtis Charity Event

I made me one and only appearance in the state of Indiana last month, in order to meet the original Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis! Jamie Lee is famous for not signing any 'Halloween' movie memorabilia, ever. Even duing her book signings, she makes it a point not to sign anything from the film. Don't ask me why, since it's the movie that basically made her career. Well, in order to (sort of) make up for all those years, she decided to attend her one (and only!) ever convention. It was run by HorrorHound, and the even was bascially a charity event to benefit the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Jamie announced she would be signing anything and everything people brought to her, as well as do a panel discussion. The whole convention turned out to be a Jamie Lee Curtis fest, and the con wound up inviting many other celebs who had starred with her in Halloween and various other films like The Fog, Terror Train, Halloween II, H2O, etc.

I wound up going with my friends, Frank and Stu. We're basically the convention crew and go to a lot of these events together. I was glad I had both of them with me, since I have a notorious fear of flying, but if anything or anyone could get my on a plane, it was Jamie. So we wound up making the less than 2 hour trip from NYC to IN in one piece. The flight was uneventful, except for the lady in the aisle across from me, telling people that she was sure our plane was going to land safely because God spoke to her in a dream the night before and gave her a plan for the next year...Thereby making it a certainty that our plane wouldn't crash since she still had to be around to fulfill her destiny. Yea, it didn't make any more sense in person, ok?

At any rate, we landed and headed to the hotel, which was La Quinta. I assumed it would be a fleabag, but thr place was actually really nice and clean. On the plus side, it was in the same parking lot as where the convention was taking place. This was ideal, becuase I hadn't realized that Indianapolis is completely boring if you don't have a car. Like, there was literally nothing around our hotel except for an Arbys, Starbucks, Burger King, and a mom & pop diner. That's it. Anything else, and you needed a car. Oh well...

The convention itself was a lot of fun. We arrived on Friday afternoon, just in time for the con to open and claim our VIP badges, which guaranteed you a JLC autograph, an event t-shirt, and guaranteed upfront seating during her panel... Also, you got to go first for all autograph sessions and photo ops. Not a bad deal. Friday was basically packed with panels since jamie would only be appearing on Saturday and Sunday. We sat in on a panel that included almost all the actors that had appeared as Michael Myers in the various 'Halloween' films...

'Person of Interest' at New York Comic Con

POI Reese x Finch
So here are some of my semi-decent pics from the 'Person of Interest' signing at NYCC. They were seated at the table from left to right: Amy Acker, Michael Emerson, Kevin Chapman, Taraji P. Henson, Jonathan Nolan.

I’m kinda miffed that I wasn’t able to get a decent pic of Taraji, but by the time I got down to her I was so flustered. She seems to be talking in every single pic I got of her lol. Amy Acker was such a sweetheart, which I think you can tell from these shots. I told her how much I loved her villainous character and she shook her head and said, “Noooo! But I’m sooo mean!” lol. I said I couldn’t wait for more Root story lines on the show! Michael was ADORBS as usual, and seemed so genuine. Chappy was awesome and looked so happy to be there, and Jonathan was also friendly and chatting with fans, even people that were waiting outside of the roped off area. Taraji was, well, Taraji…and FLAW FREE! All I wanted was a smile, which I got and then some. I told her how gorgeous I thought she was on the recent TV Guide cover lol. What can I say, I’m a nerd. I thanked each one for coming and they pretty much all said “no, thank you!!!” What a great cast!!! <3

So I basically took one crappy photo at the advanced screening for the season 2 premiere of Person of Interest. The event was held at the 92Y in Tribeca. My photo kinda sucks overall, but it was made worse when the woman in front of me decided to sit straight up just as I took it. Oh well, I had a great time and the season premiere is AWESOME!!! So many Reese x everyone feels. I can’t wait for everyone to see it…. the writers really keep outdoing themselves. Wish I could have gotten a pic with Michael and Taraji, but I guess the cast had to run off for filming since they left towards the back fo the stage pretty quickly...

I’ll have to keep an eye out for filming locations to hopefully meet Michael, Taraji, and Kevin :)

A few months ago I won free general admission weekend passes to the Supernatural convention is Parsiappany, NJ, run by Creation Entertainment. As the date of the convention drew closer, I realized that I wouldn't be able to afford spending the whole 3 days at the con... I wound up deciding to just head down for a couple hours on Sunday in order to meet Jared Padalecki. Jared plays Sam Winchester on the show, and he's actually my favorite character, besides Crowley. Since the admission tickets were going to be free, I spent money on a photo op and jumped on the NJ transit train to Parsippany on Sunday morning. I got there with some time to spare, so I jumped right in the line forming for Jared's photo op. Apparently he was still in a special breakfast that some people were able to attend since they got 'Gold' tickets.

I wound up making some new friends while standing in line, which is always nice at these events. Pretty soon, the line started moving and luckily I was towards the front. I wasn't nervous at all, until I walked into the photo op room where Jared was standing. I didn't think it was possible, but he is so much better looking in person. Like, even the photo I took with him, doesn't do him justice. I think I actually gasped when I saw him lol. At any rate, I got up to Jared pretty quickly and asked if I could get a hug. He said "of course!" and poof! The moment was over in about 2 seconds. But what a glorious 2 seconds lol! Jared is super tall, so it felt great to be nuzzled against his chest.

I'm hoping to attend the 2013 NJ Supernatural con so I can get a photo with Jesen..and possible a duel photo of Jensen and Jared, but we'll see!

Last month, I was lucky enough to attend an advanced screening of William Friedkin's new movie, Killer Joe, at The Walter Reade Theater. At the end of the film, there was a Q&A with Friedkin, writer Tracy Letts, as well as stars Matthew McConaughey and Gina Gershon. The movie also stars Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, and Thomas Haden Church. The movie is based off of a play, written by Letts, who also wrote Bug... Interestingly, the movie adaptation of that play was also directed by William Friedkin.

Me and William Friedkin, director of The Exorcist, The French Connection, etc:

I didn't know anything about 'Killer Joe' before seeing the movie, but the basic plot is that Emile Hirsch's character (Chris) hires McConaughey's character (Joe) to murder his mother so that he can collect on her substantial life insurance policy. The reason Chris resorts to hiring Joe, is that he owes a lot of money to mobsters that are going to kill him unless he pays up. The whole plan goes completely awry, and hilarity/violence ensues. I can't remember the last time a movie made me laugh, cringe, and just plain grossed me out quite like this one. I recommend watching it on DVD if you're a fan of Friedkin's work or of any of the cast. Everyone gives a stellar performance, especially McConaughey, who has never been more menacing.

The best part of the evening was the Q&A after the movie. Everyone who participated was funny and gave great answers, both about this movie and about their careers up until now. Afterwards, McConaughey and Gershon left pretty fast, but Friedkin stuck around and autographed items for fans, as well as took pics with anyone who asked.

Here are some pics from the Q&A and afterwards... I was able to get a close shot of Gina Gershon, but she left pretty quickly...

Well, another month, another attempt at getting close to celebs... One of the biggest films of the year, The Dark Knight Rises, had it's world premiere in NYC, so la_petite_singe and I decided to take a chance and head over after work. As expected, the whole area surrounding the theater was pretty much a clusterfuck. Security kept telling people to 'keep it moving', and an official fan-designated area has already been sealed off, even though there was literally 50% more space to fit people. We walked around a bit, but couldn't find a decent place to stop and celeb-watch. We wound up trying to kill some time inside a GAP store, which just happened to be situated right behind the press line at the premiere. We pretended to shop for clothes, while staying cool and waiting for people to start showing up. As it turns out, we wound up spending the majority of the red carpet arrivals inside the GAP, since we had a somewhat decent view, and it was air conditioned. (The outside temperature was sweltering). The entire cast of TDKR was there, along with Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. I got pics of everyone, but half of them are so bad, so I'm only posting pics that came out semi decent...

So when it comes to meeting Matt Bomer,  the fifth time is apparently the charm for me! I’ve tried to meet him at 3 different events (including the USA Network upfront), and 2 different set visits, only to be out of luck for various reasons each time.

I found out last week that he was going to be at Live! With Kelly to promote the newest season of White Collar, and decided to take one more chance and hopefully meet him outside the studios. I pretty much resigned myself to giving up if it didn’t happen this time… I wound up meeting with 3 fans of White Collar who I’ve become friends with on Twitter, and waited for Matt to exit after his appearance.  There was a pretty decent crowd there for him and I was glad I had some friends there to help pass the time.

Matt being flaw-free outside the Live! with Kelly studios:

Luckily the studio has a large TV screen near one of their windows, so we were able to see Matt come out and start talking with Kelly and Seth Meyers, who was her co-host this week. As some time went by, I noticed that several autograph sellers showed up. These are the folks that basically get pictures signed by celebs, only to sell them on ebay. A few of them came over to the fans and started saying that Matt wasn’t really inside the studio at all, and that his appearance was actually taped last week. Us fans were pretty stunned and upset.. I honestly didn’t believe it, since the whole story didn’t seem to add up. But the autograph guys kept insisting that he had really taped last week, and that one of their colleagues had just called & told them that Matt was already on the White Collar set on 46th Street and 6th Avenue. Needless to say, I was really upset at hearing this. I was sure I was never going to meet Matt at this point and was almost about to leave. I decided to hold out some hope and stick around for a few extra minutes, but my 3 friends decided to leave and head over to the White Collar set instead. I wasn’t able to join them since I didn’t take the whole day off of work. And actually, many fans wound up leaving as well. The crowd was cut in half upon hearing he wasn’t there at all. So as I mentioned, I stuck around for a little longer, only to lose more hope…
